Town Government
Town Meeting - Select Board - Manager
Islesboro Town Meetings serve as the legislative body passing ordinances and approving the spending of monies. We also have a Select Board serving as the town's executive body focusing more on issues of policy. The Town Manager oversees the daily operations of the municipality and is responsible directly to the Select Board.
According to the Maine Municipal Association, this is the second most common form of local government in Maine. Approximately 135 municipalities have hired a manager to administer the town government.
